Government to Provide Concessional Loans to Startups at 3% Interest Rate, NPR 730 Million Allocated

The Government of Nepal has announced a program to provide concessional loans to startup businesses at an interest rate of just 3%. The announcement was made by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel while presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83.

To support this initiative, the government has allocated NPR 730 million (73 crore). The concessional loans will be targeted toward innovation-driven startups.

Finance Minister Paudel further stated that startups led by the Gen-Z generation and based on new ideas and technologies will be given special priority. The program is expected to create self-employment opportunities for youth and contribute to Nepal’s broader economic transformation.
