India and Nepal Sign Agreement for 11 New High-Impact Community Development Projects

Kathmandu — The Government of India has signed an agreement with Nepal to implement 11 new High-Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) focused on education, health, and waste management sectors.

The agreement was signed between the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal, and the respective implementing agencies of the Government of Nepal.

According to the Indian Embassy, these projects will be implemented at a total estimated cost of approximately NPR 1.16 billion.

Since 2003, the Government of India has supported 590 High-Impact Community Development Projects across Nepal. Of these, 502 projects—covering areas such as education, health, drinking water, sanitation, road connectivity, and public utilities—have already been completed, while the remaining projects are under various stages of implementation.

These initiatives are spread across all seven provinces of Nepal. The Embassy highlighted that India and Nepal share a long-standing, multifaceted, and multi-sectoral partnership, and such projects further strengthen the close ties between the two neighboring countries.

The Government of India stated that these projects aim to empower local communities and contribute to infrastructure development in priority sectors throughout Nepal.
