Nepal Life Insurance Limited has recorded a total profit of Rs. 21 crore 55 lakh in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. According to the quarterly financial report released by the company on Friday, the profit has increased by 4.94% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.
In the corresponding period last year, the company had earned a profit of Rs. 20 crore 54 lakh. The rise in profit this year is mainly supported by an improvement in premium income. During the review period, the company’s net premium earnings increased by 13.18%, while its total income rose by 2.15%, reflecting moderate business growth.
However, the company also witnessed an increase in claim payments and expenses. Nepal Life’s net claim payment increased by 3.67%, and total expenses rose by 4.30% during the quarter, which limited the overall profit growth.
Despite the increase in profit, the company’s Earnings Per Share (EPS) has declined. EPS dropped by 46 paisa, settling at Rs. 9.55, indicating some pressure on the company’s per-share profitability.
The first-quarter results suggest that although Nepal Life Insurance achieved steady premium growth, rising expenses and claim payouts have impacted its earnings performance.
