Cabinet Meeting Begins at Baluwatar: Dr. Bishwa Paudel Likely to Be Appointed NRB Governor

A Cabinet meeting commenced on Tuesday evening at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar. Earlier in the day, a meeting took place between Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Chairman of CPN (UML).

Following the meeting, the Governor Recommendation Committee, chaired by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, convened and recommended three candidates for the position of Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. Dr. Bishwa Paudel was placed first on the list, followed by Nilam Dhungana Timsina and Dinesh Bhattarai.

According to a high-level source in Baluwatar, the Cabinet meeting is set to appoint Dr. Bishwa Paudel, the top recommended candidate, as the 18th Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. The position has been vacant since March 24, 2025.
