Economic Survey to Be Tabled in Parliament Today, Heated Political Debate Expected

The Economic Survey for the fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25) is set to be tabled in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives at 11:00 AM. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will present the survey, which outlines the overall economic status of the country including growth rate, revenue, expenditure, investment, and trade balance. The survey serves as a foundational document for drafting the upcoming national budget.

Meanwhile, today's session is expected to witness intense political debate. The opposition parties, particularly the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), have announced they will strongly raise concerns regarding the “Visit Visa” controversy involving Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. RSP has indicated it will formally protest and demand clarification at the beginning of the session.

Additionally, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent remarks on royalist movements have stirred controversy, and debates on this issue are also likely to unfold in Parliament.

Today’s session is anticipated to be crucial not just for the presentation of the Economic Survey, but also for political showdowns between the ruling and opposition parties, making it a high-stakes parliamentary event.
