Former Banker Narayan Das Manandhar Passes Away at 82

Former banker Narayan Das Manandhar has passed away at the age of 82. According to family sources, he died on Sunday morning. His final rites will be performed today at Shobhabagwati, Kathmandu, the family said.
Manandhar was regarded as one of the pioneering figures in Nepal’s banking sector. He retired from his banking career after serving as the founding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prime Commercial Bank. Before joining Prime Bank, he had served as CEO and senior executive in several commercial banks across the country. He also worked as a consultant for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
As the 21st commercial bank approved in Nepal, Prime Commercial Bank achieved a notable rise in a short period, and Manandhar is credited for his leadership and vision during its formative years. Known for his honesty, dedication, expertise and foresight, he was widely respected in Nepal’s banking community.
Prior to entering the banking sector, Manandhar also contributed to the education field, teaching at Yuvak Secondary School and Youth Campus. He later served as the General Manager of the Rice and Grain Warehouse Management Company and held high-level management positions at the Agricultural Development Bank and the Rastriya Banijya Bank. He went on to lead Nepal Bangladesh Bank and Lumbini Bank as their CEO, further strengthening his legacy in the country's financial sector.
Manandhar is survived by his wife, one son, and three daughters.
