Kathmandu, May 29 – The Government of Nepal has announced a major initiative to provide land to 500,000 landless and squatter families. The declaration was made by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel while presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83.
The program aims to promote social justice and economic empowerment for landless citizens. The budget speech stated, “Land will be allocated to 500,000 landless, squatter, and unmanaged settlement families.”
The initiative will be implemented under the coordination of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation, with the necessary budget provisions already made.
This move is expected to provide a foundation for permanent housing, improve living standards, and promote social inclusion among Nepal's most vulnerable populations.
