Grameen Bikas Laghubitta and Samaj Laghubitta to Begin Joint Operations from Kartik 2 (October 19, 2025)

Kathmandu, October 14 — Grameen Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited have successfully completed their merger process and will commence joint financial operations under the name Grameen Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited starting from Kartik 2, 2082 (October 19, 2025).

Both institutions, licensed as “D” class microfinance institutions by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), had approved the merger through separate special resolutions at their respective annual general meetings. The merger received final approval from Nepal Rastra Bank on Ashwin 23, 2082, and the Office of the Company Registrar approved the merger on Ashwin 26, 2082, officially transferring all assets and liabilities of Samaj Laghubitta to Grameen Bikas Laghubitta.

Following the merger, the registered head office of the integrated institution will remain at Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City–10, Rupandehi.

The notice also mentions that due to data migration and system integration work, both institutions’ banking services will remain closed on Kartik 1 (October 18, 2025). Regular joint operations will resume from the next day, Kartik 2 (October 19, 2025). The institution has expressed apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to customers and members.

Additionally, the merged entity has announced that share trading will remain temporarily suspended from Kartik 1 until the completion of share ledger integration and re-listing procedures.
