Inflation Rate Limited to 3.85% in Bhadra, Below Target

Despite the Nepal Rastra Bank setting a target inflation rate of 5.5% for the current fiscal year, the inflation rate up to the end of Bhadra has remained below this target. The inflation rate for the month of Bhadra was only 3.85%, significantly lower than the 8.19% recorded in the same month last year.

Rise in Food and Beverage Prices, but Decline in Spices

In Bhadra, the Food and Beverage category saw a 5.03% increase, while the Non-Food and Services category registered a 3.19% rise. Within the Food category, pulses and legumes showed a price increase of 10.80%, vegetables 9.84%, and food and related items 9.34%. However, the Spice category saw a price drop of 2.69%.

Increase in Non-Food Items and Services

The Non-Food and Services category recorded a price hike in various items, including an 8.71% increase in miscellaneous goods and services, 6.76% in alcoholic beverages, 6.08% in clothing and footwear, and 4.88% in household appliances. Notably, the insurance and financial services sub-category remained stable with no price change.

Inflation Rate by Region and Province

In rural areas, the inflation rate stood at 4.04%, while it was 3.78% in urban areas. By province, Koshi recorded a 4.66% inflation rate, Madhesh 3.82%, Bagmati 3.29%, and Sudurpaschim saw the highest increase at 5.90%. Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded an inflation rate of 3.49%, and the mountainous regions saw a 4.19% increase.
