Lower Solu Hydropower Project Connected to National Grid

The 82 MW Lower Solu Hydropower Project, located in the mountainous Solukhumbu district, has been successfully connected to Nepal’s national power transmission grid.

Constructed in the Solukhola area, the project is linked to the national grid via the 132 kV double-circuit Solu Corridor transmission line through the Tingla substation.

Developed under private investment, this project marks a significant milestone in terms of electricity generation and transmission. Promoted by Solu Hydropower Limited, the project began electricity production from its first unit on Shrawan 4 (July 19, 2025), and is now supplying power to the grid on a test basis.

The project is expected to be a key stepping stone for enhancing Nepal’s energy security.
