Man Arrested in Kathmandu for Illegal Hundi Transactions Exceeding Rs 5.7 Million

Kathmandu — Nepal Police have arrested a man involved in illegal hundi transactions amounting to more than Rs 5.7 million.
A team from the Kalimati Police Circle apprehended 34-year-old Saroj Shrestha, a resident of Namobuddha, Kavrepalanchok, from Chunne Pakha Tole in Kuleshwar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–14. The police made the arrest public today.
According to police, Shrestha had been conducting unlawful money transfers totaling Rs 5,47,3500 through the hundi network.
Spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, informed that the district court has granted a five-day extension for further investigation under the offense of conducting unauthorized hundi transactions.
Police stated that illegal hundi operations pose a serious threat to the nation’s financial system, and strict monitoring and enforcement actions will continue to curb such activities.
