Matribhumi Laghubitta Posts NPR 57.9 Million Loss: Net Worth Per Share at NPR 182.26

Matribhumi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. has published its unaudited fourth-quarter report for the fiscal year 2081/82, revealing a net loss of NPR 57.9 million. Despite higher operating income, heavy operating expenses and rising non-performing loans pushed the company into a negative earnings zone.

According to the financial statement, the company’s total assets stood at NPR 12.40 billion, while total liabilities reached NPR 11.25 billion, leaving total equity at NPR 1.15 billion. The company’s share capital remains NPR 628.3 million, with reserves of NPR 633.2 million, though accumulated losses widened to NPR 110.67 million.

On the income side, the company posted NPR 1.31 billion in interest income and NPR 915.4 million in interest expense, resulting in a net interest income of NPR 400.8 million. Including commission and other income, total operating income reached NPR 535.9 million. However, operating expenses surged to NPR 546.3 million, leading to an operating loss of NPR 71.5 million. After adjusting non-operating activities, the company ended the year with a net loss of NPR 57.9 million.

Key regulatory ratios highlight ongoing challenges. The Capital Fund to RWA ratio stands at 8.06%, just above regulatory minimum, while NPLs surged to 8.76% of total loans. The credit-to-deposit ratio stood at 268.09%, far above normal levels, indicating aggressive lending relative to deposits.

For shareholders, the annualized Earnings Per Share (EPS) is negative at NPR –9.22, while the Net Worth Per Share remains strong at NPR 182.26. Similarly, Total Assets per Share stood at NPR 1,974.36, reflecting the company’s sizeable asset base despite current losses.
