Nepal Rastra Bank Publishes Draft of ‘Artificial Intelligence Guidelines’, Seeks Suggestions by Poush 15

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has prepared and published a draft of the ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidelines’ as part of its effort to promote secure and responsible use of digital technology in the banking and financial sector.

The central bank released the draft on Sunday and invited comments and suggestions from stakeholders. NRB has called upon the general public, banking and financial institutions, experts, researchers, and individuals involved in the tech and finance industry to provide their feedback on the proposed guidelines.

According to NRB, suggestions on the AI draft may be submitted in writing or via email by Poush 15, 2082. The bank stated that the feedback received will be reviewed and incorporated before issuing the final guidelines.

The AI guidelines aim to provide direction on the use of artificial intelligence in banking—covering areas such as risk management, customer service, data privacy, cybersecurity, governance, and regulatory compliance. NRB expects the guidelines to help ensure safe, ethical, and efficient adoption of AI technologies in Nepal’s financial system.
