Nepal Rastra Bank to Invest NPR 5.55 Billion in Banks’ Fixed Deposits

Nepal Rastra Bank has announced plans to invest NPR 5.55 billion in fixed deposits with banks and financial institutions. The investment will be made using funds from the central bank’s Provident and Pension Fund. Banks and financial institutions have been invited to submit their proposed interest rates by 7:00 PM on January 1 (Poush 17). Of the total amount, NPR 4.44 billion will be placed in commercial banks, NPR 832.5 million in national-level development banks, and NPR 277.5 million in national-level finance companies. According to the central bank, the fixed deposit investment will be for a period of 366 days, from January 5, 2026 to January 5, 2027.
