NEPSE Hits Nearly 4-Year High at 3002 Points, Trading Volume Slightly Declines

On Tuesday, the NEPSE index closed higher for the second consecutive trading day, rising by 30.76 points to settle at 3002.07. This marks the highest index level in nearly four years. The last time NEPSE closed above this level was on Bhadra 13, 2078 (August 29, 2021), when it reached 3044.87 points.

Despite the index gain, the total trading volume slightly declined. Compared to Monday's trading volume of NPR 19.36 billion, Tuesday saw a turnover of NPR 18.52 billion, involving 321 stocks over 157,525 transactions, amounting to 41.8 million shares traded.

Four stocks hit the positive circuit limit: Muktinath Krishi Company, Trade Tower, Sanvi Energy, and Nadep Laghubitta. Nepal Warehousing Company’s stock rose over 8%, while Mai Khola Hydropower and Green Ventures gained more than 7%. Conversely, Samata Gharelu Laghubitta witnessed the sharpest decline, dropping 8.60%.

In terms of trading volume, Himalayan Distillery topped the list with NPR 644.1 million in turnover. Green Ventures followed closely with NPR 640 million, and Nepal Reinsurance Company traded shares worth NPR 570 million.

Out of the 13 sub-indices, 11 closed in the green. The "Others" sub-index surged the most by 2.58%. The Banking, Microfinance, and Non-life Insurance sectors each gained over 1%. Meanwhile, Development Bank, Finance, and Trading sub-indices experienced slight declines.
