NRB Calls International Tender to Print NPR 21 Billion Worth of New Banknotes

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has invited international competitive bids to print 420 million units of NPR 50 banknotes, amounting to a total of NPR 21 billion. The central bank’s Currency Management Department issued a notice calling for tenders from pre-qualified international security printers.

The contract includes the design, printing, supply, and delivery of the new notes, as part of an international competitive bidding process. Interested pre-qualified companies must submit their bids to the Currency Management Department by 12:00 PM on September 8, 2025. The bids will be opened on the same day at 1:00 PM.

A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for August 17, 2025. Companies wishing to participate must purchase the tender form by paying either NPR 20,000 or its equivalent—USD 146, EUR 126, or GBP 109.

Additionally, bidders are required to submit a bid security worth a minimum of NPR 40 million along with their proposal, NRB stated.
