Shares worth 3 billion rupees traded in the OTC market last year

In the Over-the-Counter (OTC) market of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), a total of approximately 3 billion rupees worth of shares were traded in the fiscal year 081/82. Shares totaling 178,78,146 units from companies that were unable to list for various reasons were bought and sold in the OTC market. The total transaction value amounted to 2.9543 billion rupees.

Last year, over 1 million shares of companies such as Professional Educators, Sopan Multiples, Sarvottam Steel, Akash Bhairav Secured, and Medicare Hospital were traded in the OTC market. In particular, 1,49,908 shares of Sopan Multiples were sold at 130 rupees per share, resulting in a transaction worth 19.4884 million rupees.

Shares of companies that are not listed and are in the listing process can be bought and sold in the OTC market. These companies are allowed to trade in the OTC market because they have not fulfilled the necessary conditions for listing. If a company meets the requirements for listing, its shares will be removed from the OTC market. When buying and selling shares in the OTC market, both the sale order and the purchase order must be registered with the necessary documentation, and a 10% deposit amount can be submitted.
