PM Oli Meets European Union Ambassadors in Kathmandu

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a courtesy meeting with European Union (EU) ambassadors on Monday at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar.

The delegation was led by EU Ambassador to Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, and included ambassadors from various European countries based in Kathmandu as well as non-resident ambassadors from India. Many EU envoys arrived in Nepal for the first time to participate in the Sagarmatha Dialogue.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the 51-year-long diplomatic relationship between Nepal and the European Union. He discussed Nepal's progress in peaceful transformation, constitution building, and ongoing economic development. He also called for deeper cooperation in these areas.

PM Oli emphasized that the government formed through collaboration between the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress is focused on economic prosperity and job creation. He urged the European nations to increase investment in Nepal.

He reassured the envoys that Nepal is heading toward political stability and prosperity and that there’s no turning back from democracy. He also mentioned maintaining balanced diplomatic relations with both India and China.

In response, EU ambassadors expressed their continued support for Nepal in sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, green energy, information technology, and climate change. They commended the successful organization of the Sagarmatha Dialogue and welcomed Nepal's progress in transitional justice, urging the government to prioritize the rights of victims.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, Bishnu Prasad Rimal, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
