In a remarkable display of shareholder rewards, Unilever Nepal has emerged as the highest dividend-paying company in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) for the fiscal year 2080/81, distributing an unprecedented 1714% cash dividend. This extraordinary payout has set a new benchmark in the Nepali capital market, signaling the company’s strong financial performance and robust profitability over the past year.
Following Unilever Nepal, Bottlers Nepal (Balaju), the producer of Coca-Cola in Nepal, secured the second position on the list. The company rewarded its shareholders with a 50% cash dividend, reflecting a healthy profit margin and continued market dominance in the beverage sector.
In third place is a company that issued 10% bonus shares alongside a 26.84% cash dividend, bringing the total shareholder benefit to 36.84%. This balanced approach of distributing both bonus shares and cash rewards demonstrates a strategy aimed at both immediate investor returns and long-term capital growth.
Two other companies also made it to the list of top dividend payers, each delivering a 30% total return to their shareholders. One company achieved this by offering a 30% cash dividend, while the other opted for 30% bonus shares, indicating different approaches toward rewarding investors—either through direct payouts or by increasing shareholder equity.
This year’s dividend announcements underline the strong performance of select companies in NEPSE, despite the broader market challenges. High dividend payouts, particularly Unilever Nepal’s record-breaking distribution, are expected to boost investor confidence and potentially attract new capital inflows into the stock market.
