Hong Kong Tourist Visa for Nepali Citizens – Complete Online Application Guide 2025

Nepali citizens who plan to visit or transit through Hong Kong must obtain a visa or entry permit before traveling, as Nepal is not listed under Hong Kong’s visa-free countries. The Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) offers an official online visa application system that allows travelers to apply easily from Nepal without visiting the consulate or embassy. However, this online service does not apply to visa extensions.

An application is likely to be approved if the applicant’s bona fides are clear, they have sufficient financial resources to support their stay, and they possess a return or onward air ticket, especially for transit visas. A local sponsor in Hong Kong, either an individual or a company, can also assist in processing the application. The sponsor must be a bona fide Hong Kong resident aged 18 or above.

Applicants must prepare important documents such as a valid passport, passport-size photo, bank statement, hotel booking or invitation letter, travel itinerary, and flight ticket. After submission, an acknowledgement email is sent within seven working days, and the full processing period usually takes about four weeks. Once approved, payment can be made online through GovHK, Faster Payment System (FPS), Payment by Phone Service (PPS), or credit cards. After payment, the applicant can immediately download or print the e-Visa, which must be shown at the airport immigration checkpoint along with a valid passport. Documents for online upload must be in JPEG, PDF, GIF, PNG, or TIF formats (under 5 MB each). Supported browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
