Hong Kong Visa Application Center in Kathmandu — Location & Timing

For Nepali citizens applying for a Hong Kong Visit, Transit, or Business Visa, all applications are processed through the VFS Global Hong Kong Visa Application Center located in Kathmandu. This center serves as the official submission point for visa documents and biometrics, under the supervision of the Chinese Embassy and the Hong Kong Immigration Department (HKSAR).

The center is situated at a convenient location — 4th Floor, LS Building, 11 Thapathali, Kathmandu, Nepal (Postal Code: 44600). Applicants can reach the office easily via major city routes, as Thapathali is centrally located near major banks, embassies, and travel offices. The office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with visa submission hours from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It remains closed on weekends and public holidays.

Before visiting the center, applicants must book an appointment online through the official VFS Global portal. Walk-ins are generally not accepted unless specified for urgent cases. Arriving at least 30 minutes early is recommended to complete security checks and document verification. The center handles applications for all categories — Tourist, Transit, Business, Official Visit, and Dependent Visas — and provides document checking, passport collection, and courier return services.

Applicants are advised to carry the original passport, printed visa application form (ID1003A and ID1003B), recent photographs, and all supporting documents, including bank statements, flight details, hotel bookings, and invitation letters (if applicable). The visa fee (HKD 230 equivalent in NPR) and service charge must be paid at the counter. Only cash or card payments are accepted as per VFS policy.

For smooth processing, applicants should reach the center before 3:00 PM, as submissions made after that may be deferred to the next business day. Once the application is submitted, an acknowledgment receipt is provided, which can be used to track visa status online.

As a result, more than NPR 838 billion (8.38 trillion rupees) has accumulated at Nepal Rastra Bank in various forms, including deposit collection instruments, standing deposit facilities, and central bank bonds. This reflects the inability—or unwillingness—of banks to deploy funds into productive sectors of the economy.
