Malaysia e-Visa for Nepali Passport Holders – Apply Easily Online in 2025

In 2025, Malaysian immigration continues to offer a convenient online visa system — known as the Malaysia e-Visa (MYVISA) — for Nepali passport holders who plan to travel to Malaysia for tourism, business, family visits, or short stays. This digital visa eliminates the need to visit the embassy in person and can be applied for entirely online through the official government portal https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my.

Nepali citizens are eligible for the Malaysia e-Visa under the Visa Without Reference category, which allows a single entry (SEV) for 30 days stay, or a multiple entry (MEV) visa for frequent travelers such as businesspersons. However, each visit under the MEV still has a maximum 30-day stay limit. The e-Visa is typically valid for six monthsfrom the date of issuance, so travelers can choose when to enter Malaysia within that timeframe.

Requirements and Documents:
Applicants must hold a valid Nepali passport with at least six months of validity, a recent studio photograph (35 × 50 mm, white background), a scanned passport biodata page, and confirmed flight and accommodation bookings. Proof of sufficient financial means, such as a bank statement or travel funds, may also be required. Each applicant must pay a Visa Fee of RM 20 plus a Processing Fee of RM 105, along with a small convenience charge depending on the payment method (0.8% for card payments or 1.7% for e-wallets).

Step-by-Step Process:
To apply, Nepali travelers need to create an account on the MYVISA portal, fill in accurate personal and travel details, upload all required documents in PDF or JPEG format, and make the payment online via debit/credit card or e-wallet. After successful submission, the application is processed within two to seven working days, excluding weekends and public holidays. Once approved, the applicant receives a downloadable e-Visa Approval Note (PDF) via email, which should be printed on A4 paper and carried while traveling.

At immigration checkpoints in Malaysia, travelers must present their passport, printed e-Visa, return ticket, proof of accommodation, and financial documents. Immigration officers may also verify the purpose of the visit, so it’s important to provide clear, consistent information.

Important Notes for 2025:

  • You must apply outside Malaysia (applications within Malaysia are not permitted).

  • The e-Visa is non-extendable and non-renewable.

  • The visa fee is non-refundable, even if the application is rejected.

  • Always use the official government portal to avoid third-party scams.

  • The e-Visa approval note does not guarantee entry; final approval rests with Malaysian immigration officers at the entry point.
