Malaysia Visit Visa from Nepal – Full Process & Embassy Requirements

The Malaysia e-Visa (MYVISA) system allows Nepali citizens to apply online for travel authorization to enter Malaysia for tourism, business, or short visits. Applicants can conveniently apply through the official portal: https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my.

There are two main types of visas available — Single Entry Visa (SEV) for one-time travel, and Multiple Entry Visa (MEV) for frequent travelers (excluding citizens of Israel and North Korea). Each entry under MEV allows a stay of up to 30 days, provided that the passport remains valid.

Application Process

Nepali applicants must apply online before departure, as individual applications cannot be submitted from within Malaysia. It is recommended to apply at least 14 days before travel. The processing time takes around 2 to 7 working days, excluding weekends and Malaysian public holidays. Delays may occur if documents are incomplete or additional verification is needed.

To apply, create an account at the MYVISA website, upload your documents, make online payment, and download your e-Visa once approved. Payments can be made via credit card or e-wallet (Alipay, WeChat Pay). The processing fee is RM105 plus a visa fee based on nationality and a small convenience charge.

Required Documents

Applicants must have:

  1. Passport valid for at least 6 months with three blank pages.

  2. Recent studio passport photo (white background).

  3. Confirmed return flight ticket.

  4. Hotel booking or letter of accommodation (if staying with friends/relatives).

  5. Birth certificate for minors.

  6. Supporting documents such as invitation or cover letter (if applicable).

Travelers should print the e-Visa on A4 paper or keep a digital copy. Upon arrival, Malaysian Immigration may ask for: passport, e-Visa printout, boarding pass, proof of accommodation, and return ticket.

Visa Validity and Rules

An e-Visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issuance, and visitors can stay up to 30 days per entry. If you already have a valid visa and apply for a new one, the old visa will automatically be cancelled upon new approval. The visa fee is non-refundable even if the application is rejected.

Applicants are reminded that holding an e-Visa does not guarantee entry. The final decision lies with the Immigration Officer at the entry point.

Important Notes

Nepali nationals fall under the Visa Without Reference (VWR) category, meaning they can apply directly online without an invitation letter. However, Afghan nationals and certain others may require a Visa With Reference (VDR)with prior approval.

Those seeking medical treatment must apply under the Medical e-Visa category, submitting an appointment letter from an MHTC-registered hospital.

For any technical or payment issue, applicants can reach out to 24-hour Live Chat support available on the MYVISA portal.
