26 Public Enterprises in Nepal Show Profit

Out of the 44 public enterprises operating in Nepal, 26 have been found to be profitable. According to the annual status review of public enterprises presented by the Ministry of Finance to the parliament, 26 enterprises were profitable in the fiscal year 2079/80, while 15 were in loss. Three enterprises had zero transactions.

The total operating income of public enterprises was 661 billion NPR. Compared to the previous fiscal year, the net profit of public enterprises has also increased, reaching 48.51 billion NPR. This significant increase is mainly due to the high profit of Nepal Oil Corporation. The corporation, which had a loss of 38.17 billion NPR in the previous year, achieved a profit of 11.72 billion NPR this year.

The government's total investment in public enterprises increased by 8.62% compared to the previous fiscal year, reaching 661 billion NPR. The government's investment includes 379 billion NPR in shares and 281 billion NPR in loans.

Public enterprises have provided employment to a total of 32,180 people, and the accumulated profit of these enterprises has reached 61.14 billion NPR. The increase in profit of public enterprises has helped improve Nepal's economic situation.
