The Government of Nepal is set to present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26) in a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Thursday, May 29.
According to the agenda released by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will present the budget at 3 PM in the joint session of both houses. The official notice reads:
"Honorable Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will present the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for Fiscal Year 2082/083."
The budget preparation is in its final stages. The National Resource Estimate Committee has given the Ministry of Finance a ceiling of NPR 1.965 trillion, which is slightly higher than the current fiscal year's budget.
Sources say that the upcoming budget will focus on boosting economic growth, generating employment, controlling inflation, and enhancing the effectiveness of capital expenditure.
This year's budget is receiving high attention from the private sector, investors, industrialists, traders, and the general public. Expectations are high that the budget will prioritize capital market reforms, tax policy adjustments, loan support programs, and strategic government expenditure.
