As of Baisakh end 2082, commercial banks in Nepal have reported significant volumes of non-banking assets, with Global IME Bank leading the chart at Rs. 5,958.38 million. This is closely followed by HBL (Himalayan Bank Limited) with Rs. 5,129.54 million and NABIL Bank with Rs. 3,793.98 million.
Notably, NIC Asia also recorded high non-banking assets at Rs. 4,600.80 million, and NIMB (Nepal Investment Mega Bank) posted Rs. 3,116.11 million. In contrast, the lowest non-banking assets were reported by Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) and Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) at Rs. 204.11 million and Rs. 319.95 million respectively. Sanima Bank and NSBI were also among the lower end with Rs. 877.42 million and Rs. 897.64 million.
Other notable mentions include Kumari Bank with Rs. 2,559.10 million, Prime Bank with Rs. 2,369.93 million, and Laxmi Sunrise Bank with Rs. 1,782.44 million. While several banks reported robust figures, SCBNL did not disclose any data in this category.
The rise in non-banking assets suggests diversified asset holdings by the banking sector, possibly in real estate, foreclosures, or other receivables. These numbers reflect how banks are managing their non-core asset portfolios amid ongoing economic adjustments.
