The Employment Permit System (EPS) under the Department of Foreign Employment has started the first-phase Korean language test for the production sector from Monday (Mangsir 1). Out of the 102,515 applicants who applied for the 2025 EPS Korea language test, 67,000 candidates from the production sector will sit for the exam starting today.
Exam Begins Despite Requests from Roster-Listed Youths
Youth listed in the EPS roster had been requesting the government to postpone the exam, insisting that those already in the roster should be sent to Korea first. However, the EPS branch proceeded with the plan and decided to complete the language test for 67,000 production-sector candidates within two months.
Nepal and South Korea are preparing to release the official exam notice simultaneously today.
First Phase: Production Sector; Next Phase: Agriculture & Livestock
Although 102,515 candidates are set to participate in the EPS language test, the first priority is given to the production sector.
The EPS branch has announced that the remaining 35,000 candidates from the agriculture and livestock sector will have their exam dates fixed in the next phase.
Risk of Losing Korean Job Quota
South Korea, which selects migrant workers from 17 EPS member countries, has been demanding the highest number of workers from Nepal.
However, due to delays and internal issues in Nepal’s exam management, there is a possibility that South Korea may transfer Nepal’s quota to other countries if the examinations are not completed on time.
