International Card Payment Enabled for E-Visa and Government Revenue in Nepal

Kathmandu — Nepal has introduced international card payment facilities for Electronic Travel Authorization (e-visa) and visa-on-arrival services through the Government of Nepal’s Revenue Management Information System (RMIS).

The initiative is a collaboration between the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), the Department of Immigration (DOI), and Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL). With this integration, international tourists can now pay visa fees directly via the DOI’s online portal and at Tribhuvan International Airport using multiple international cards.

Announcing the launch, Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal stated that the move will simplify online visa applications, enhance service delivery, and expand e-payment adoption for government revenue collection.

As part of the National Payment Switch, the system will gradually extend to other government agencies, further boosting digital transactions across Nepal.

In fiscal year 2081/82, NCHL processed NPR 1,219 billion in government expenses and NPR 366 billion in revenue-related transactions.
