Lower Solu Hydropower Project Nears Completion

The 82 MW Lower Solu Hydropower Project, under construction in Solukhumbu’s Tingla region, has reached its final phase with 95% physical progress. Promoted by Lower Solu Hydropower Company Ltd., key structures like generators, turbines, surge tanks, powerhouses, and tunnels have been completed.
According to project manager Dharmendra Gautam, the penstock tunnel is at the breakthrough stage, with only the installation of the penstock pipe remaining. Initiated in 2016, the project aims for completion by September 2025. Currently, 700 workers, including 100 locals, are employed. The generated electricity will be connected to the national grid via the Tingla substation.
