NEPSE Rises After Two Days of Decline, Trading Volume Drops

After two consecutive days of decline, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rebounded on Wednesday, closing higher. The NEPSE index rose by 12.17 points to settle at 2,607.42 points. Similarly, the Sensitive Index increased by 1.14 points, while the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index gained 0.90 and 0.45 points, respectively.

Despite the market’s upward movement, overall trading volume declined. Compared to Tuesday’s turnover of NPR 5.15 billion, total transactions on Wednesday amounted to NPR 4.68 billion, with 92.18 million shares traded in 42,879 transactions across 312 listed companies.

Mabilung Energy Limited’s share continued its strong performance, hitting the positive circuit level for the second consecutive day and closing at NPR 384.30, up NPR 34.90. Likewise, Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta gained around 10 percent, while Nepal Finance rose by over 9 percent. On the other hand, First Microfinance Laghubitta witnessed the highest decline of 7.48 percent.

In terms of transaction amount, Union Hydropower topped the list with a turnover of NPR 386.1 million, followed by Himalayan Distillery with over NPR 320 million and Radhi Hydropower with over NPR 310 million. Out of 13 sectoral sub-indices, 11 closed higher, while 2 fell. The finance sub-index posted the strongest growth, up 3.41 percent, whereas the hotel & tourism and mutual fund sub-indices saw slight declines.
