NEPSE Suspends 15-Minute Average Price Calculation Method

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has decided to suspend the practice of calculating the average price of the last 15 minutes as the final trading price. The decision comes after the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) sent a directive instructing NEPSE to halt the system. The suspension will take effect starting Tuesday.

Investors had long been demanding the removal of this system. SEBON’s board meeting held on Saturday officially decided to suspend the method, following which NEPSE issued a notice.

According to the notice, “As per SEBON’s directive dated Ashwin 4, 2082, the provision under Regulation 11(7) of the Securities Trading Regulation (Fourth Amendment) 2081, which treated the weighted average price between 2:45 PM to 3:00 PM as the final price, has been suspended. From now on, the last traded price will be used as the basis for index calculation.”

NEPSE informed that the technical test of the new arrangement has been completed today. Since Ashwin 6 is a public holiday, the system will be implemented from Ashwin 7 (Wednesday) onwards.
