Petrol and Diesel Prices Increased in Nepal After Revision by Indian Oil Corporation

Kathmandu — Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene following the latest price update from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). A meeting of the NOC board decided to implement the new rates from midnight today.
According to the revised pricing, the corporation has hiked the price of diesel and kerosene by Rs 3 per liter and petrol by Rs 2 per liter. NOC stated that the adjustment was made after IOC sent new rates showing an increase of Rs 2.54 per liter in petrol and Rs 6.53 per liter in diesel.

After the adjustment, the revised rates are as follows:
Diesel / Kerosene:
First category: Rs 144.50 per liter
Second category: Rs 146 per liter
Third category: Rs 147 per liter
Petrol:
First category: Rs 158.50 per liter
Second category: Rs 160 per liter
Third category: Rs 161 per liter
Price Category Classification
NOC has categorized its depots into three price groups:
First Category:
Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Birgunj
Second Category:
Surkhet, Dang
Third Category:
Kathmandu, Pokhara, Dipayal
Fuel prices differ across these regions based on transportation and depot distance.NOC clarified that the price adjustment was inevitable after receiving the new purchase rates from IOC, which had increased the wholesale prices of both petrol and diesel.
Analysts expect that the rise in fuel prices may put additional pressure on transportation fares and the overall cost of daily essentials.
