Kathmandu, May 29 – The Government of Nepal has announced the establishment of a "Teacher Bank" to address the shortage of teachers in English, Science, and Mathematics subjects.
Presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel stated that the Teacher Bank will be operated in collaboration with universities.
The initiative aims to ensure that schools, especially in underserved areas, have access to qualified teachers in critical subjects. The Teacher Bank will facilitate the deployment of teachers where there is a shortage.
Additionally, graduates will be mobilized as volunteer teachers, contributing to the education system while gaining practical teaching experience.
This move is expected to enhance the quality of education, expand teacher access in rural areas, and provide young graduates with opportunities to serve and contribute to society.
