Government to Raise NPR 10 Billion Through Internal Debt via 8-Year Development Bond

The Government of Nepal has announced plans to raise NPR 10 billion in internal debt through the issuance of an 8-Year Development Bond–2080 via a bidding process. The Public Debt Management Office, under the Ministry of Finance, released a notice on Monday confirming that the bond will be sold through competitive bidding.

According to the notice, the government will issue an 8-year development bond worth NPR 1,000 crore (NPR 10 billion) through the bidding mechanism. Interested banks and financial institutions are required to submit their applications online through the office’s official website. Participants must specify the interest rate, investment amount, and other required details within the online bidding system.

The Public Debt Management Office stated that detailed information regarding the bidding rules, procedures, and requirements is available on its official website. Eligible institutions are encouraged to review the guidelines carefully before participating.

The Government of Nepal has been issuing development bonds to strengthen effective internal debt mobilization. Such instruments are expected to support the management of government development expenditures and contribute to maintaining long-term fiscal stability.
