The government has decided to observe a national Mourning Day in honor of those who lost their lives during the Gen Z movement. Newly appointed Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal announced the decision immediately after assuming office.
He stated that the decision will be formally endorsed in the upcoming Cabinet meeting. The exact date for observing the Mourning Day will be determined by the Cabinet.
Similarly, families of the deceased will be provided with NPR 100,000 as immediate funeral expenses. According to Minister Aryal, this step represents the government’s sympathy and solidarity with the grieving families.
The government’s move has been seen as an initial measure of support to those affected by the movement. Once the Cabinet finalizes the decision, an official announcement will be made, and the Mourning Day will be observed nationwide.
