Inflation Drops Sharply to 2.77% in Baishakh 2082

According to Nepal Rastra Bank, the annual point-to-point consumer inflation rate in Baishakh 2082 has decreased to 2.77%, compared to 4.40% in the same month of the previous year. In Baishakh, the inflation for food and beverages stood at 1.52%, while non-food and services inflation was 3.45%.
In the same period last year, the inflation for these groups was 6.41% and 3.09%, respectively. In Baishakh, within the food and beverages group, the annual point-to-point inflation for ghee and oils was 11.08%, fruits were 6.15%, lentils and pulses were 5.17%, and non-alcoholic beverages saw a 4.70% increase.
However, the annual point-to-point inflation for vegetables was 8.11%, spices increased by 2.20%, and fish and meat decreased by 0.48%.
In the non-food and services group, inflation for miscellaneous goods and services was 9.04%, for education it was 5.88%, for clothing and footwear it was 5.23%, for furnishings and household equipment it was 3.99%, and for restaurants and housing services, it increased by 3.16%.
In the rural areas, the annual point-to-point consumer inflation was 3.21%, while in urban areas it was 2.61%.
By province, the annual point-to-point consumer inflation for the provinces was as follows: Koshi Province at 4.29%, Madhesh Province at 2.81%, Bagmati Province at 2.40%, Gandaki Province at 2.23%, Lumbini Province at 2.15%, Karnali Province at 2.21%, and Sudurpashchim Province at 3.14%.
In the Kathmandu Valley, the annual point-to-point inflation was 2.64%, in the Terai it was 2.64%, in the hills it was 2.65%, and in the mountains, it was 4.01%.
