Bangkok Tourist Visa Requirements for Nepalese Travelers

Bangkok Tourist Visa Requirements for Nepalese Travelers

If you are a Nepali traveler planning to visit Bangkok or any part of Thailand in 2025, you must apply for a Tourist Visa (Type TR) before your trip, as Visa on Arrival is not available for Nepali passport holders. The Government of Thailand has introduced several updates in 2025 to make the immigration process digital and more transparent. As of May 1, 2025, all travelers entering Thailand are required to fill out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which has replaced the old TM6 paper form. This digital card must be completed within 72 hours before arrival, and it contains your travel and accommodation details, which will be verified at the immigration counter.

Applicants must prepare a complete set of documents before applying for the visa. These include a valid passport with at least six months of validity, a filled and signed visa application form, two or three recent passport-size photographs, confirmed hotel reservations, a detailed travel itinerary, and proof of return or onward tickets. The Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu and VFS Global Nepal are the authorized centers to process tourist visas for Nepali citizens. The Thai Embassy has also reinstated the requirement of financial proof — applicants must show a bank statement of the last six months with at least THB 20,000 (around NPR 80,000) for single travelers or THB 40,000 (around NPR 160,000) for families. This ensures travelers have sufficient funds during their stay in Thailand.

The Tourist Visa Type TR allows a stay of up to 60 days, and travelers can apply for an additional 30-day extensionat a local Thai Immigration Office. The visa is generally valid for three months for single entry or six months for multiple entries, depending on the applicant’s travel purpose. The processing time usually takes three to five working days, and applicants are advised to apply at least two to three weeks in advance of their planned departure date. Once your visa is approved, your passport will be stamped, and you can prepare to travel. Before departure, make sure to complete the TDAC online form to avoid delays at immigration checkpoints. Overstaying beyond the permitted duration is strictly prohibited and can result in fines, penalties, or even entry bans for future visits.

Nepal Begins Budget Work, Sets Up Revenue Advisory Committee to Shape Tax and Economic Reforms

Nepal Begins Budget Work, Sets Up Revenue Advisory Committee to Shape Tax and Economic Reforms Kathmandu — Nepal’s Ministry of Finance has formally kicked off the process of preparing the national budget for the upcoming fiscal year by constituting a Revenue Advisory Committee, signaling the start of the government’s annual fiscal planning cycle. Officials say the move is aimed at collecting structured policy input before the budget ceiling, priorities, and tax proposals are finalized. According to the ministry, the committee has been formed under a decision of Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal dated Magh 28 (Nepali calendar), with the Ministry’s Revenue Secretary serving as coordinator. The ministry’s spokesperson, Tank Prasad Pandey, said the committee has already started work, indicating that early-stage consultations and technical reviews are now underway. At its core, the committee’s mandate is broader than routine “tax suggestions.” It has been asked to advise on the economic context and on what the budget should prioritize—meaning it can influence both the revenue strategy (how the state raises money) and the policy direction (where the state plans to intervene, reform, or incentivize). In practice, such committees often become the route through which competing interests—business groups, sector associations, experts, and government agencies—try to shape the budget narrative.
