Nepal Rastra Bank Invites Interest Rate Proposals for Fixed Deposit Investment
Nepal Rastra Bank has called for interest rate proposals from banks and financial institutions to invest NPR 7.35 billion from its grants and pension fund in fixed deposits. The total amount is allocated to commercial banks, development banks, and finance companies in different categories. The fixed deposits will be held for one year from January 21, 2026, to January 21, 2027. Proposals must be submitted by 7 PM on Magh 2, 2026. Banks and financial institutions must meet several criteria, including maintaining capital requirements, keeping non-performing loans below 8%, and being profitable in the last financial year. The proposal’s interest rate will remain valid until the investment date. This initiative aims to improve liquidity management and increase interest rate competition in the banking system.
