'जलवायु एवं प्रकृतिमैत्री विकास' नाराका साथ विश्व वातावरण दिवस मनाइँदैWorld Environment Day Being Marked Nationwide with Climate-Friendly Development Theme
काठमाडौँ — 'समृद्ध भविष्यको आधार : जलवायु एवं प्रकृतिमैत्री विकास' भन्ने मूल नाराका साथ विश्व वातावरण दिवस आज (जुन ५) देशभर मनाइँदै छ । वातावरण संरक्षण, जलवायु परिवर्तनका चुनौती र दिगो विकासबारे जनचेतना फैलाउने उद्देश्यले हरेक वर्ष मनाइने यो दिवस नेपालमा यसपालि सप्ताहव्यापी कार्यक्रमका साथ मनाइँदै छ । दिवसका अवसरमा देशभर वृक्षरोपण, सरसफाइ र जनचेतनामूलक अभियानलगायतका कार्यक्रम हुने वातावरण विभागले जनाएको छ ।
मुख्य समारोह विभागले ललितपुरमा आयोजना गरेको छ, जसमा कृषि, वन तथा वातावरणमन्त्री गीता चौधरी प्रमुख अतिथि रहने कार्यक्रम छ । समारोहमा सरकारी निकाय, विकास साझेदार, वातावरणविद् र सरोकारवालाको सहभागिता रहनेछ । वातावरण संरक्षण, जलवायुका असर न्यूनीकरण र प्रकृतिमैत्री विकासबारे चेतना विस्तार गर्न दिवस विशेष रूपमा मनाउन लागिएको विभागका महानिर्देशक ज्ञानराज सुवेदीले बताए । संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघको आह्वानमा सन् १९७३ देखि मनाउन थालिएको यो दिवस वातावरणीय चुनौतीबारे विश्वव्यापी जागरण फैलाउने प्रमुख अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय अभियान बनेको छ ।
KATHMANDU — World Environment Day 2026 is being observed across the country on Friday under the national slogan "Climate and Nature-Friendly Development: The Foundation of a Prosperous Future." Marked every year on June 5 to raise public awareness of environmental conservation, the challenges of climate change and sustainable development, the day is being celebrated in Nepal this year with a week-long series of programs. Tree plantation drives, cleanup campaigns and public awareness activities are being held nationwide to mark the occasion, according to the Department of Environment.
The department has organized the main ceremony in Lalitpur, where Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary is scheduled to attend as chief guest, joined by representatives of government agencies, development partners, environmentalists and other stakeholders. Director General Gyanraj Subedi said the day is being marked in a special way to spread awareness of environmental protection, the mitigation of climate change impacts and the promotion of nature-friendly development. Observed since 1973 at the call of the United Nations, World Environment Day has grown into one of the foremost international campaigns for raising global awareness of environmental challenges.
