Apply for Canada Visit eVisa from Nepal: A Step-by-Step Guide

Canada is a sought-after destination for Nepali citizens seeking to visit for various reasons such as tourism, business meetings, attending events, or visiting family and friends. The Canada Visit eVisa allows Nepali citizens to visit the country for a short period. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process of applying for a Canada Visit eVisa.

1. Passport Requirements

Before you start the application, ensure that your passport meets the necessary requirements. Your passport must be valid for at least one year after your intended stay in Canada. This is to make sure that there are no issues with your travel during your stay. Additionally, your passport should have at least two blank pages to accommodate the visa stamp and any other required endorsements.

2. Covering Letter

A covering letter is a critical component of your eVisa application. This letter should clearly outline the purpose of your visit to Canada, and if you are visiting for business or personal reasons, the letter should contain the following details:

  • The name of the applicant and the individuals traveling with you.

  • Travel dates, itinerary, and the expected duration of stay in Canada.

  • Information on who will bear the expenses during your stay in Canada.

  • The purpose of the visit, whether it is for tourism, business meetings, or visiting friends/family.

The cover letter serves to clarify your intentions for visiting Canada and provides the authorities with the information they need to process your visa application smoothly.

3. Leave Sanction Letter

If you are employed, a leave sanction letter from your employer is required. The letter should be on company letterhead and include the following:

  • The dates during which you have been granted leave for your trip.

  • The name, designation, and signature of the authorized signatory.
This letter helps confirm that you are authorized to take time off from work and ensures that you will return to your job after your visit.

4. Travel Itinerary and Hotel Reservations

For a Canada Visit eVisa application, you need to provide a complete travel itinerary, including confirmed hotel reservations. The required documents are:

  • A detailed itinerary with travel dates, activities, and plans during your stay in Canada.

  • Confirmed hotel reservations for the entire duration of your stay. If you plan to visit multiple cities in Canada, you should provide hotel bookings for each city.
This helps to demonstrate that you have organized your trip and will have appropriate accommodation during your stay.

5. Documents for Minors

If a minor is traveling with you, the application process requires additional documentation. For minors traveling with one parent or a third party, the following must be submitted:

  • An affidavit signed by the parent(s), stating that they have no objections to the travel of the minor. The affidavit must be notarized and legalized by the competent authorities in your home country.

  • If the parents are residing in Canada, they can submit a self-declaration along with a copy of their Canadian stay permit and passport.
Additionally, parents may sign a consent form at the Canadian Consulate General along with a copy of their passport and the minor’s birth certificate. These documents help ensure that the minor’s travel is fully authorized by the parents or legal guardians.

6. Financial Status and Means of Sustenance

You need to prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay in Canada. Depending on your source of income, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • For Salary Income: Provide a salary certificate, employment contract, and income tax return certificate.

  • For Business Income: Submit a business registration certificate, audit report, and tax clearance certificate.

  • For Retired Applicants: Submit a pension statement and proof of income from property or business ownership.
If someone is sponsoring your visit, such as a family member or friend in Canada, you will need to submit their financial documents, including their bank statements, tax returns, and a copy of their passport.

7. Additional Documents

To further strengthen your application, you may submit additional documents, though they are not mandatory. These may include:

  • Property valuation certificates.

  • Share certificates.

  • Fixed deposit (FD) certificates.
These documents can be particularly helpful for individuals with significant assets or financial stability.

8. Flight Details

Providing flight details is crucial for the eVisa application process. You will need to submit:

  • A return flight reservation or airline reservation printout with your confirmed travel dates.

  • If you are flying from a city outside the jurisdiction, ensure you provide a confirmed ticket from a city within the jurisdiction of the Canadian embassy. The embassy may reject your application if this is not provided.
This helps the authorities ensure that you have a clear plan to return to Nepal after your visit.

9. Bank Statement

A bank statement for the past six months is required, showing a minimum balance of NPR 500,000 or more. The statement should demonstrate a consistent transaction history, providing evidence that you have sufficient funds for your stay in Canada. This document serves as proof that you can financially support yourself during your trip.
