Complete Guide to Canada Tourist eVisa for Nepali Citizens

Canada is a popular destination for Nepali citizens looking to travel for tourism purposes, whether it’s for leisure, sightseeing, family visits, or attending events. If you are planning a trip to Canada, you can apply for a Canada Tourist eVisa, which is an online visa that allows you to visit Canada for a short duration. This guide provides a comprehensive look at the requirements, documents, and procedures involved in applying for a Canada Tourist eVisa for Nepali citizens.

1. Passport Requirements

To apply for a Canada Tourist eVisa, the first requirement is that your passport must be valid for at least one year beyond your intended stay in Canada. The Canadian authorities need to ensure that you will have enough time on your passport during your stay. Additionally, your passport should have at least two blank pages for the visa stamp and other necessary entries. These pages are crucial for the Canadian immigration officers to affix your visa and entry stamps.

2. Covering Letter

A cover letter is an essential document when applying for a Canada Tourist eVisa. This letter is typically written by the applicant and should include:

  • The name of the applicant and any individuals traveling with them.

  • The proposed travel dates, including the exact duration of stay in Canada.

  • Information regarding who will bear the expenses for the trip to Canada.

  • The purpose of the visit, clearly stating that the trip is for tourism purposes.
The cover letter helps to clarify your intentions for the trip and assures the Canadian authorities that your visit is temporary and for legitimate tourist activities.

3. Leave Sanction Letter

If you are employed, you will need to provide a leave sanction letter from your employer. This letter must include:

  • The dates of leave that have been sanctioned for your travel.

  • The name, designation, and signature of the authorized signatory at your company.
This letter confirms that you have been granted permission to take leave for the duration of your travel, ensuring that you will return to your job after your trip.

4. Travel Itinerary and Hotel Reservations

A confirmed travel itinerary and hotel reservations are critical components of the Canada Tourist eVisa application. You will need to submit the following:

  • A detailed travel itinerary that outlines your travel dates, activities, and plans during your stay in Canada.

  • Hotel booking confirmations that cover the entire duration of your stay. If you are traveling to multiple cities within Canada, you need to provide hotel reservations for each city you will visit.
This documentation assures the Canadian authorities that you have pre-arranged accommodations, strengthening your application by showing that you have a well-planned trip.

5. Documents for Minors

If a minor is traveling with you, additional documents are required. If the minor is traveling with only one parent or a third party, the following must be provided:

  • A notarized affidavit from the parent(s) stating that they have no objection to the minor’s travel. The affidavit must be legalized by the competent authorities in your home state.

  • If the parents are residing in Canada, they may submit a self-declaration along with a copy of their Canadian stay permit and passport.
In some cases, parents may also sign a consent form at the Consulate General, along with a copy of their passport and the minor’s birth certificate. These documents ensure that the minor’s travel is authorized by the parents or legal guardians.

6. Financial Status and Means of Sustenance

As part of the application, you will need to provide evidence of your financial ability to support yourself during your stay in Canada. The required documents depend on your source of income:

  • For Salary Income: Provide your salary certificate, employment contract, and income tax return certificate.

  • For Business Income: Submit your business registration certificate, audit report, and tax clearance certificate.

  • For Retired Applicants: Provide your pension statement or proof of income from property or business ownership.
If you are being sponsored by a family member or relative in Canada, the sponsor must submit their financial documents, including their bank statements, income tax returns, and a copy of their passport.

7. Additional Documents

While not mandatory, additional documents can help strengthen your application. If you have strong financial assets, you can include:

  • Property valuation certificates.

  • Share certificates.

  • Fixed deposit certificates.
These documents are particularly useful for applicants with substantial net worth, providing additional proof of financial stability.

8. Flight Details

You must provide proof of your flight details, including:

  • A return flight reservation with confirmed travel dates.

  • The flight reservation should show that you will be returning to Nepal after your stay in Canada. If you are traveling from a city outside the jurisdiction of the Canadian embassy, ensure that you include a confirmed flight ticket from a city within the jurisdiction.
Without this document, your application may be rejected, as it serves to verify that you have a clear plan to leave Canada after your visit.

9. Bank Statement

A bank statement from the past six months is a key financial document in your eVisa application. The statement should meet the following criteria:

  • The ending balance should be at least NPR 500,000 or more.

  • It should demonstrate a strong transaction history, showing regular deposits and financial activity.
This document proves that you have sufficient funds to support your stay in Canada, covering your travel, accommodation, and daily expenses.
