Complete Tourist Visa Guide for Nepali Citizens Visiting South Korea

Traveling to South Korea from Nepal has become increasingly popular among Nepali citizens for tourism, business, study, and family visits. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kathmandu now requires all visa applicants to book appointments online through the official website https://koreanembassynepal.org. Appointment slots open every Monday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. (Nepal Time). Only applicants for a marriage visa (F-6) are exempt from booking an appointment in advance.

Visa applications are accepted at the embassy gate from Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m., while passports and visas can be collected between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Applicants must submit their visa applications in person or through an authorized representative with a signed authorization letter. All travelers must use a Machine Readable Passport (MRP) valid for at least six months. The embassy warns that submitting invalid or fake flight tickets may result in visa rejection and even a three-year travel ban.

The visa process requires submission of original or notarized documents including a valid passport, passport-sized photo, visa application form, cover letter, detailed itinerary, confirmed hotel and flight bookings, six-month personal and company bank statements, PAN certificate, and proof of employment or business registration. Applicants visiting family or for business must also submit an invitation and guarantee letter from their Korean contact or institution.

Visa processing generally takes 21 working days or more, so applicants are advised to apply well in advance of their intended travel date. All documents issued in Nepal must be translated into English and notarized, while documents from Korea must be submitted in original form and issued within the past three months.

As of January 1, 2025, the new visa fees are as follows:

  • Single Entry (up to 90 days): NPR 5,400

  • Single Entry (over 90 days): NPR 8,100

  • Double Entry (up to 30 days): NPR 9,450

  • Multiple Entry (up to 30 days): NPR 12,150
The embassy accepts cash payments only.

Medical requirements include a tuberculosis (TB) test from one of four designated hospitals: Patan Hospital, Civil Service Hospital, Korea-Nepal Friendship Hospital (Thimi), and Sukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital (Teku). Students and long-term visa holders must present TB clearance before approval.

Despite fulfilling all requirements, the Embassy of Korea reserves the right to approve or reject visa applications without explanation. Any fraudulent submission or forged documentation can lead to a ban of up to five years.
