Cost & Fees for Macao Visa from Nepal: Breakdown and Latest Rates

For Nepali citizens applying for a Macao visa, the total cost structure is transparent and standardized by the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Kathmandu, which officially handles all Macao visa applications from Nepal. As of the latest update, the total payable fee per applicant is NPR 9,400, which is divided into three distinct components — Visa Fee (NPR 3,300), Service Fee (NPR 3,900), and Contact or Liaison Fee (NPR 2,200). Each of these charges serves a specific purpose in the application process and must be paid together at the time of submission.
The Visa Fee (NPR 3,300) represents the consular charge imposed by the Macao Special Administrative Region for visa processing and evaluation. It covers the cost of assessment by Macao’s immigration authorities. The Service Fee (NPR 3,900) is charged by the Chinese Visa Application Service Center for administrative handling, document verification, and coordination between applicants and the Macao Immigration Office. The Contact Fee (NPR 2,200) is an additional liaison charge that supports communication, courier, and data transmission between Nepal and the Macao consulate system.
Applicants must pay the full amount in Nepalese Rupees (NPR) directly at the visa application center counter. Payments are accepted via cash or bank draft, depending on the center’s payment policy at the time of submission. It’s important to note that the service and contact fees are non-refundable, even if the visa is later refused, withdrawn, or delayed. This is because those fees cover document handling and processing costs that occur regardless of visa outcome. Only the visa portion (NPR 3,300) may be refundable in very limited exceptional cases, though generally refunds are not granted once processing begins.
Before applying, Nepali applicants should always check the latest updates published on the official CVASC Kathmandu website (https://www.visaforchina.cn/KTM3_EN) or its notice board, as fee rates are subject to change based on currency fluctuation, administrative adjustments, or bilateral visa policy updates between Nepal and the Macao SAR Government. Submitting outdated fees or underpaying the required amount can lead to application delays or rejection, as the visa center will not process incomplete payments.
Applicants should also budget for additional costs such as document translation, passport photocopying, photograph printing, courier services, and possible bank certification charges when preparing financial proof (for example, the mandatory bank balance certificate showing more than MOP 15,000). While these are not part of the visa fee itself, they contribute to the overall expense of the application.
Overall, the Macao visa from Nepal remains reasonably priced considering it covers verification, communication, and security screening processes between the two countries. Proper preparation of required documents, accurate payment, and submission within working hours (Tuesday–Thursday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM) ensure a smooth and timely visa experience for Nepali travellers planning to visit Macao for tourism, business, family, or study purposes.
