For Nepali citizens planning to apply for a China Visit Visa (L Visa), proper documentation is the foundation of a successful application. The Chinese Visa Application Centre (CVASC) in Kathmandu and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China have established clear and detailed requirements to ensure applicants can demonstrate the purpose of their visit, financial stability, and intent to return. Submitting all documents accurately and on time helps avoid delays or rejection during processing.

Applicants must start by preparing a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity and a minimum of two blank pages. Alongside this, a completed online visa application form must be printed, signed, and submitted in person. Every detail on the form—such as name, date of birth, and passport number—should match exactly with your passport. A recent passport-sized color photograph (white background, taken within the last six months) must also be attached. Applications with digitally edited or low-quality photos are not accepted.

Applicants must also include proof of travel intent, which may vary depending on the purpose. For tourists, the Embassy requires round-trip flight bookings, hotel reservations, and a clear day-to-day itinerary of travel plans within China. For family or friend visits, an invitation letter issued by the host in China, along with their Chinese ID card (for citizens) or residence permit (for foreigners), must be submitted. Financial documents are equally important—typically three to six months of bank statements, a balance certificate, and, if employed, a salary certificate or business registration proof showing the applicant’s financial capacity.

Applicants who previously held a Chinese visa should provide a copy of the old visa or residence permit, if applicable. Those applying from Nepal must also demonstrate that they are legally residing in Nepal, as the Chinese Visa Centre in Kathmandu only accepts applications from residents. During submission, biometric data (fingerprints) are collected from applicants aged between 14 and 70.
