Extend or Renew Your China Medical Visa — Full Process for Nepalis

For Nepali citizens receiving treatment in China under a Medical Visa (R/M Category), extending or renewing the visa becomes essential when the treatment duration exceeds the visa’s validity. China allows foreign patients to apply for an extension or renewal from within the country through the Exit and Entry Administration Department of the Public Security Bureau (PSB). Applications must be submitted inside China, typically at the PSB office located in the same city as the treating hospital — such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, or Chengdu. The required documents for extending or renewing a China Medical Visa include:

  • Original passport and current visa.

  • Medical certificate or continuation letter from the Chinese hospital specifying that ongoing treatment is necessary.

  • Hospital invitation or admission confirmation letter mentioning the treatment duration.

  • Accommodation proof (hotel or hospital stay record).

  • Updated bank statement (last 3 months) showing financial capability.

  • Health insurance policy covering the new stay duration.

  • Visa extension form (provided at PSB).
