How to Apply China Medical Treatment Visa from Nepal

The China Medical Treatment Visa is specifically designed for Nepali citizens seeking medical care, surgery, or long-term treatment in China’s reputed hospitals. With China’s growing reputation for advanced healthcare — including cancer therapy, heart surgery, organ transplants, dental implants, and fertility treatments — this visa helps Nepali patients access top-quality and affordable medical services. The visa application is processed through the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kathmandu via the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC), located at Rising Mall, Kamaladi.
To apply, applicants must obtain an official invitation or admission letter from a recognized Chinese hospital. This document must include the patient’s full name, diagnosis, treatment plan, expected duration of stay, doctor’s name and signature, hospital’s address, and official seal. Additionally, a medical recommendation letter from a registered hospital or doctor in Nepal is required, explaining why the treatment needs to be conducted in China. The applicant must also prepare other supporting documents such as a valid Nepali passport (minimum 6 months’ validity), recent passport-size photo (48×33 mm, white background), completed visa application form (available online at www.visaforchina.cn), bank statement for the last 3–6 months, proof of accommodation (hotel or hospital booking), and flight reservation.
If any family members or attendants accompany the patient, they must also submit relationship certificates (marriage or birth certificate) and separate visa applications. Once all documents are ready, the applicant must print and sign the online form, book an appointment, and personally submit the application at CVASC Kathmandu. The visa processing fee generally ranges from NPR 12,000 to NPR 18,000, and the processing time is 4–7 working days (or 2–3 days for express service). After approval, applicants should check visa details carefully and ensure travel plans align with hospital admission dates.
The hospital invitation letter is the key document in this process. Without it, the Chinese Embassy will not process the application. Therefore, it is crucial that the letter is issued by a government-approved hospital, printed on the official letterhead, and contains accurate treatment and contact details. Applicants should always verify the authenticity of the hospital and the information mentioned in the documents.
