How to Apply for a Hong Kong Visa from Nepal — Step-by-Step Guide

For Nepali citizens, visiting Hong Kong requires obtaining a visa or entry permit in advance since Nepal is not among the 170 visa-exempt countries allowed entry to Hong Kong. The Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) offers both online and offline application options. Applicants can submit their forms through the official online system, by post to the Immigration Headquarters in Tseung Kwan O, New Territories, or through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, which handles Hong Kong visa processing for Nepali residents.
The required forms include ID1003A (for the applicant) and ID1003B (for the sponsor, if any). Supporting documents such as a valid passport, recent photographs, bank statements, flight bookings, accommodation confirmation, and a cover letter stating the purpose of visit (tourism, business, or family) must be submitted. In case there is a local sponsor, proof of relationship or invitation letter is mandatory.
Applicants may first fax their documents to (852) 2824 1133 to expedite the process; however, the original signed copies and photographs must be mailed by air to Hong Kong. Email submissions are not accepted. The processing period generally ranges between 4 to 6 weeks, depending on document verification and applicant category. Once approved, a Visa/Entry Permit Label is issued, which needs to be affixed to the passport before travel. Travelers must also carry their return flight tickets and hotel booking confirmations during immigration clearance.
For those already in Hong Kong, an extension of stay can be requested online within 14 days before expiry or in person within 7 days before the current stay limit expires. Overstaying is a serious offense under Hong Kong immigration law.
To make the process simpler, Nepali applicants can seek professional guidance from Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., Koteshwor (Contact: 9802348957).
