How to Apply for Canada Online eVisa for Nepali Citizens

Canada offers various types of online visas for Nepali citizens, allowing them to visit the country for different purposes such as tourism, business, religious events, sports events like the FIFA World Cup 2026, and more. The application process for a Canada online eVisa is relatively straightforward, but it requires you to submit several documents to ensure a smooth approval process. Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide on how to apply for a Canada online eVisa.

1. Passport Requirements

Before you start the application process, you must ensure that your passport meets certain criteria. Your passport must be valid for at least one year beyond your intended stay in Canada. This ensures that you will not face any issues during your travel, as Canada requires a passport with a longer validity period. Additionally, your passport should have at least two blank pages to accommodate the visa stamp and other necessary endorsements.

2. Covering Letter

A cover letter is a crucial part of the eVisa application process. If the applicant is a proprietor or business owner, the cover letter must be on the company letterhead. This letter should include specific details such as:

  • The names of the applicant and any other individuals who will be traveling with them.

  • The travel dates, itinerary, and expected duration of stay in Canada.

  • Information on who will bear the expenses for the trip.

  • The purpose of the visit, whether it is for tourism, business, a religious event, or a sports event like the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The purpose of this letter is to provide a clear picture of your travel plans and confirm your intention to return to Nepal after the trip.

3. Leave Sanction Letter

If you are employed, a leave sanction letter is required from your employer. This letter should be on the company’s letterhead and must specify the dates of leave granted. It should also mention the applicant’s name, designation, and the signature of the authorized company signatory. This helps to validate that you have the necessary leave approved for the duration of your travel to Canada.

4. Travel Itinerary and Hotel Reservations

For your eVisa application, you will need to provide a complete travel itinerary, including confirmed hotel reservations that cover the entire duration of your stay in Canada. If you plan to visit other countries during your stay in Canada or if you are traveling to other regions of Canada, hotel bookings for those areas are also required. This ensures that you have prearranged accommodation and helps strengthen your visa application. Additionally, if you are being sponsored by someone in Canada, an invitation letter from the sponsor is necessary, along with a copy of their identification documents, such as their passport or identity card.

5. Documents for Minors

If a minor (under 18 years old) is traveling with one parent or a third party, additional documentation is required. The parent(s) must provide an affidavit, notarized and legalized by the competent Home Department of their state of residence, stating that they have no objections to the minor's travel. Alternatively, if the parents reside in Canada, they can submit a self-declaration form along with a copy of their stay permit and passport, signed and authenticated by the relevant Canadian authority. In some cases, parents can also sign a consent form at the Consulate General of Italy, Kolkata, along with a copy of their passport. This ensures that both parents or guardians approve the travel of the minor.

6. Financial Status and Means of Sustenance

To demonstrate your ability to support yourself during your stay in Canada, you will need to provide financial documents. The required documents will depend on your income source:

  • For Salary Income: You must submit a salary certificate, an employment contract, and income tax certificate.

  • For Business Income: If you are self-employed, you will need to provide your company registration certificate, tax clearance certificate, and audited financial reports.

  • For Retired Applicants: If you are retired, you must provide a pension statement and proof of income from property or business ownership.
Additionally, if the trip is being sponsored by your children, you will need to submit their financial documents, such as bank statements, income tax returns, and a copy of their passport.

7. Additional Documents

Applicants who have strong net worth can submit additional documents, though they are not mandatory. These documents may include property valuation certificates, share certificates, and fixed deposit (FD) certificates. These documents serve to further strengthen your visa application by showcasing your financial stability.

8. Flight Details

Providing flight details is essential for the eVisa application process. You must submit a return flight reservation that includes confirmed flight details for both your arrival and departure from Canada. If you are traveling from a city outside the jurisdiction, it is important to provide a confirmed ticket for a city within the jurisdiction of the Canadian embassy. Without this, your application may be rejected. You will also need to provide proof of all internal travel within Canada, such as train bookings or car rentals.

9. Bank Statement

A bank statement from the past six months is required, with an ending balance of at least NPR 500,000 or more. The bank statement should show a strong transaction history to prove that you have sufficient funds to cover your stay in Canada. This serves as a demonstration of your financial capability to sustain yourself while traveling.
