Indonesia eVisa Validity Explained – Understanding the 90 Days Entry & 60 Days Stay Rule (For Nepali Travelers 2025)

When applying for the Indonesia C1 Tourist eVisa (also called a 211A Visit Visa), it’s essential to understand that there are two separate validity periods: one for entry and another for stay duration. Many travelers — especially first-time applicants — confuse these two, which often leads to visa expiry before travel or overstaying fines after arrival. The official Indonesian Immigration Department clearly mentions that your visa must be used (entry made) within 90 days from the date of issuance, but your stay period inside Indonesia is limited to 60 days, starting from the day you enter the country.
The first rule, the 90-day entry validity, means that once your visa is approved and issued, you have a 3-month window to enter Indonesia. For example, if your visa was approved on January 1st, you must enter the country before March 31st. Failing to enter within this timeframe will automatically void your visa, and you will have to apply for a new one. This rule ensures that visas are used within a reasonable period and helps immigration authorities manage entry schedules effectively. Even though your visa may still appear “valid” on paper, it cannot be used for entry after the 90-day window closes.
The second rule concerns your length of stay — once you enter Indonesia, your permitted stay is 60 days under the C1 tourist visa. This period begins from your actual arrival date, not from the day your visa was issued. For example, if you enter Indonesia on March 1st, you can legally remain there until April 30th, unless you apply for an extension. Nepali travelers can extend this 60-day stay two more times, with each extension granting another 60 days — meaning you can enjoy a total stay of up to 180 days (6 months) without leaving Indonesia. All extensions must be done at local Kantor Imigrasi (Immigration Offices) before the current validity expires.
It’s also crucial to differentiate between visa validity and stay duration printed on your visa document. The date labeled “Visa Valid Until” refers to your entry deadline (90 days), not the last day of your stay. Many travelers mistakenly count their 60 days from that “valid until” date, which can result in overstaying penalties. If you overstay, the Indonesian government imposes a fine of IDR 1,000,000 (approx. NPR 8,600) per day, and repeated violations can lead to deportation or re-entry bans. Therefore, always check your entry stamp date on your passport to calculate your stay accurately.
