Invitation Letter Format for China Family Visit Visa

When applying for a China Family Visit Visa (Q1/Q2 or S1/S2) from Nepal, one of the most important documents required by the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu is the Invitation Letter from your family member or friend residing in China. This letter acts as official confirmation of your relationship, travel purpose, and duration of stay, and it must be provided by a Chinese citizen or a foreign national legally residing in China. A properly formatted and detailed invitation letter significantly improves the chances of visa approval and ensures faster processing by the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Rising Mall, Kamaladi.

The invitation letter should clearly include the full name, nationality, and passport number of the applicant, along with the purpose and duration of the visit. The inviter must provide their own full name, address in China, contact number, ID or residence permit number, and a clear description of their relationship with the applicant — whether as a spouse, parent, child, or close friend. The letter must also specify where the applicant will stay in China and confirm who will bear the travel and living expenses. Finally, the letter must be signed, dated, and accompanied by the inviter’s identity documents — such as Chinese ID card (for Chinese citizens) or passport and residence permit (for foreign residents).

Applicants are also advised to attach proof of relationship, such as marriage certificates, birth certificates, or family registration documents, to make the relationship verifiable. The letter can be written in English or Chinese, but it must be clear, formal, and professional in tone. It should be printed, signed, and scanned as a PDF file, which can then be sent to the applicant in Nepal to include in the visa application file.

In addition to the invitation letter, the applicant must also submit other supporting documents such as a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), recent photograph (48mm x 33mm), bank statement (3–6 months), flight itinerary, and proof of accommodation. After completing the online visa application form on visaforchina.cn, the applicant should book an appointment and submit all documents at the CVASC Kathmandu office.
